VETERAN sportswriter Lito delos Reyes was unanimously elected as the new president of the Sports Communicators Organization of the Phils. (SCOOP) Davao Chapter last Saturday night at the Nanay Bebeng’s Restaurant in Davao City.
Delos Reyes, editor-in-chief of the Pinoy Sports Magazine and columnist of the Mindanao Daily Mirror, succeeded MDM sports editor Leonard Paul Palo.
Also elected was Mindanao Times columnist Marilyn Roque as the new vice-president, while Michelle Corpus of Pinoy Sports Magazine and Smashville Gym was re-elected as the secretary.
Former vice-president Jimmy Javier of Beefit Gym is now the treasurer, while golf guru and columnist Manuel “Gogo” Alba, also of PSM, is the auditor. Outdoor sports and mountaineering specialist Rey Sumagaysay of the Edge Outdoor is now the business manager, while Sun.Star Davao columnist Romy Sabaldan is the press relations officer (PRO).
The members of the Board are Palo as the immediate past president, former president Bong Gonzaga of UMBN, James Galay of ABSCBN-dxAB, Boy Lim of Mindanao Times, Racky Acac of PSM, Roland Jumawan of Manila Standard, Tomas Avancena of Gold Star Daily and Tommy Inigo of High Ponds and Island Buenavista Beach Resorts.
SCOOP Davao conducts a weekly public sports forum at the Royal Mandaya Hotel every Tuesdays from 11 a.m.. to 12 noon. It also supports a quarterly Walk for A Cause organized by the Department of Health and other past charitable sports events including the Disudrin 3K-5K Charity Fun Run held last month at Victoria Plaza.
