Kidapawan City - As three of the senior members of the Braveheart Boxing Club of North Cotabato prepare for the big fights in Mexico and the United States, the younger boys in the club will continue to go through the tough selection process as they figure in a small card scheduled Sept. 25 at the Mlang Gymnasium in Mlang, North Cotabato.
Antonio Margarito said Tuesday in Beverly Hills that it's time to turn the page. Appearing at the first of three press conferences to hype his Nov. 13 Cowboys Stadium title bout against Manny Pacquiao, the Mexican veteran was suitably low key, humble even, as he spoke to the assembled media.

MANILA,Philippines- Antonio Margarito’s chief trainer Roberto Garcia yesterday said his ward will use his brute strength and height advantage against Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao even as he expressed confidence of Margarito’s victory in their upcoming fight in November in Texas.
The World Boxing Council received a request from Top Rank Inc. to approve the bout between Manny Pacquiao and Mexicanfighter, Antonio Margarito, for the WBC Superwelterweight world title, to be held at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium this coming November 13th.

It was a jam-packed crowd inside the Pacific Grand Ball Room of Waterfront Hotel and Casino, where the boxing event held and broadcast by giant television network ABS-CBN. The boxing extravaganza lined-up two (2) Mexicans, a Korean and Indonesian against our Pinoy warriors.
CEBU CITY – Waterfront Hotel and Casino Grand Ballroom was jampacked here with boxing enthusiasts from all walks of life who wanted to see our local boxing heroes pitted against their respective foes from other parts of the world. Boxing personalities and elected officals were also there. Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno and world champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, among others, were introduced atop the ring before the main event. Nietes got the loudest applause among the VIP’s called.
World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental superbantamweight champion Niño Magboo has pulled out of his Aug. 30 title defense against North Cotabato's Rolando "Smooth Operator" Magbanua because of what his handlers claimed was a boil that grew in his left armpit.

This is not to denigrate the accomplishments of WBO minimumweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes but to highlight his potentials. Notching three victories in enemy territory - even if the last two were virtual cliffhangers - is a feat in itself.
MARK Jason Melligen is one of the fastest-rising Filipino prospects in the US and now wants to be among the elite fighters in his division.Melligen, a former amateur standout, has been making waves in the US boxing scene since his debut last year in Colorado and has signed with Bob Arum’s promotional outfit, Top Rank.
ROEL Velasco, Edito Villamor and Luisito Espinosa were the reasons I became a boxing fan. The first live boxing match I saw was the semifinal loss of Roel to a Cuban in the Barcelona Olympics, while the first Pinoy pro boxer I followed in the papers was Edito. I remember looking forward to my graduation from high school because it was the day news of his title fight against Ricardo Lopez would come out in the national papers.
